ATLACID (ACID DYES)

Acid Dyes are water soluble and have good fastness. Therefore it has been widely applied for dyeing protein fibers such as wool, silk, and synthetic fiber nylon. Its high solubility in water is generated by its sulphonic acid groups content that are typically present as sodium sulphonate salts.

In general, acid dyes are classified in to three groups:

  1. Neutral acid dyes (medium to good wet fastness with poor light fastness)
  2. Weak acid dyes (good wet fastness with moderate light fastness)
  3. Strong acid dyes (are also called leveling dyes with poor wet fastness but good to produce shades)
